“We can easily forgive a child who is afraid of the dark; the real tragedy of life is when men are afraid of the light.”
And politicking is part of our survival instincts. The real price of not participating in politics is that you will be ruled by men (or women) who are inferior to you. The real tragedy in our political system is that there is a lot of double speak. If you’re like me who has been around the block, you will soon realize that it is often not what meets the eye. The issues that our politicians’ champion are often done to gain brownie points with the electorate. There are some, in my opinion, should not have entered politics.
My reason for starting this blog is to bring some perspective into the issues. I want to have a narrative about our future (or vision if you like). But, I was told that it is purely the domain of our leaders (self anointed in most cases). The real leaders are those who are in it to really change the world (or at least Singapore).
The issues that we face are really complex – it does not help that our politicians do it simply because they can either stay in power or get into power. Of course, there is the forbidden fruit – we can’t call our ruling elite corrupt but they can be called incompetent.
From a political marketing point of view, the minister who said that is a real oxymoron! But, who cares… so feel free to call them oxymorons.
